Eucharistic Revival”

The Bishops of the United States have initiated a three-year, grassroots “Eucharistic Revival” of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. These words, taken from the much-anticipated 2021 USCCB document on the Eucharist, underscore the plentiful sources of the Catholic Church’s doctrinal teaching and belief throughout its history, beginning with the Lord Jesus’ own words at the Last Supper and repeated at every celebration of Holy Mass: “This is My Body, this is My Blood. Do this in memory of Me.”

YEAR ONE
JUNE 2022 – JUNE 2023 Diocesan Year
- June 18, 2022 – Family Event
- All parishes were encouraged to invite all families to participate on the Family Mass and picnic on June 18, 2022, at Turkey Swamp Park, Park in Freehold, New Jersey (Link).
- June 19, 2022 – BEGINS: Corpus Christi 2022
All parishes were encouraged to do a procession for Corpus Christi Sunday. Below is a link video for planning Eucharistic Processions (in both English and Spanish).

- September 8, 2022: Parish Catechetical Leader Convocation
We often ask ourselves, “Why aren’t they attending Mass?” The world is hurting and we are all in need of healing. So many are disconnected from the source of healing; Jesus! The National Eucharistic Revival is a way to accept the invitation from Jesus to return to the source and summit of our faith: HIS REAL PRESENCE IN THE EUCHARIST.

- Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit
This traveling exhibit has been created as an experience to affirm belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. It is based upon the website created by Blessed Carlo Acutis to catalogue all of the Eucharistic Miracles that have taken place worldwide. - Regional Trainings - During this year there will be a series of regional trainings for Ecclesial movements, apostolates, teachers, catechists, and lay leaders on preparation for year two.
- Prayer Card - During this period, all parishes of our Diocese were asked to pray for the Eucharistic Revival, focusing on the great gift of Jesus Christ truly present in the Holy Eucharist.

YEAR TWO
JUNE 2023 – JULY 2024 Parish Year
- Parish Small Groups
Pastors will invite their parishioners and staff to become truly and deeply Eucharistic communities through small groups, increased exploration of the Sacrifice of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and catechetical studies on the Real Presence of Christ.
- Parish Missions
Pastors will sponsor parish missions, processions, and other activities to enable deeper encounters with Our Lord in the Eucharist. In service of the National Eucharistic Revival, a team of priests is being formed to boldly proclaim Jesus truly present in the Eucharist and how He changes lives. - Parish Out to the Peripheries
Pastors will equip the faithful to know and love Jesus, and to share that love with others. “The Church is called to go out into the streets of every existential periphery in order to heal wounds and to seek out the straying” (Pope Francis, May 6, 2021).

YEAR THREE
JULY 2024 – JUNE 2025
National Eucharistic Congress and Year of Mission
The parish phase of the Eucharistic Revival will culminate in a National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis July 17-21, 2024. But, in fact, the Eucharistic Revival never ends. The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist has been reviving the Church since the Last Supper and will continue doing so until He returns at the end of time.
