Alleluia!
This celebration of the greatest feast in the liturgical year is a reminder to us of who we are and what is universally and singularly important in our faith. We, as disciples of Jesus, and with our belief in the resurrection, are a people grounded in hope. In light of all of the suffering, tragedy, injustice, and hatred, we yet remain grounded in the “sure and certain hope” that God has an ultimate plan for history, and that we either cooperate with that plan, or we resist the plan through our sinfulness.
I think that we had a good Lenten Season here, and we intend to maintain some of that energy going forward by continuing our efforts at adult faith formation. Although there is a slight resurgence in the endemic, we will continue to expand and open up to various activities here.
Shortly we will be celebrating the Sacrament of First Holy Communion for the second grade students in our religious education programs. They have received Penance in December and are now ready to receive the Sacrament. We continue our prayers for them and their families, so that they will continue their growth in faith and present themselves regularly for the reception of Holy Communion.
I want to thank the entire parish staff for their hard work in making our celebration of the Triduum both sacred and beautiful. The decoration, the music, and the liturgies were moving and enriching. I want to specifically thank Father Augusto Lorenzo for his coordination of the Holy Week Services.
Now that we are in the closing weeks of April, and as spring is beginning to emerge, we know that it is a quick run to the end of the school year and the rise of summer. We are considering some new initiatives here, and will be soon reporting on that to the parish. I believe that we are poised for significant growth in the near term. Many new families register here on a regular basis, which bodes well for our school and parish programs.
Easter brings forth expectation that good things are on the horizon. Let us continue our prayers for one another and especially for peace throughout the world, in our communities, and in our homes.
