Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Benedict:
Hopefully the bitter cold is behind us and the promise of spring comes early.
This week we do indeed hit the midpoint of Winter -- February 2 -- as we observe the Solemnity of the Presentation of the Lord. At that Mass (Friday 9am) we will bless all of the candles that are used for Masses in the coming year.
Next weekend we will offer the Blessing of Saint Blaise at all of the Masses.
This weekend we begin Catholic School’s Week. We honor and celebrate the many accomplishments of our school -- our present students and thousands of alumni -- and continue to propel ourselves into the future. We have done much with the school over the past decade and have some plans for the future of the school. Fortunately, enrollment is strong and the future is looking positive. While the first Open House has now passed, there is another opportunity on Friday, February 16, for anyone who may be interested. I want to thank Nick Cammarano (principal) and Megan Gallagher (vice-principal) for their dedication and hard work for the success of the school. Likewise, Lori Ulrich cannot go unnoticed as her marketing campaign for the school and management of the enrollment activities are key to our success. Patti Dickens continues to work to secure additional funding and support for the school, and the parish. Our main office is staffed by the wonderful team of Monica Hurni and Leolanie Jensen. The crew of teachers, classroom aides, cafeteria staff, cafeteria and recess aides, social worker, EDP staff, security officer, IT Team, HR, temporal administration, and the buildings and ground crew all work together to make our school the successful ministry and mission that it is. Let us continue our prayers and support for them as we laud their efforts this week.
The Women’s Bible Study program begins this week. Check the bulletin for more details.
I hope that everyone has a blessed and safe week ahead.
Fr. Garry
