Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Benedict:
Happy March! I am writing this before the first so I am not sure if the month has come in like a lamb or a lion. Since Easter Sunday is the 31st of the month, we are all hoping that the month goes out like a lamb.
In conjunction with the parish phase of the Eucharistic Revival, our parish is hosting a traveling exhibit on Eucharistic miracles. This is a large exhibit, divided into seven sections, and offers a chronological look at various miracles related directly to the Eucharist over the centuries. The exhibit will occupy the Hall of Saints and will be open from Friday, March 8th until Friday, March 22nd. There is a complete schedule of opening times and opportunities to visit the exhibit in the bulletin and on the parish website. Students from our school, St. John Vianney HS, and Christian Brothers Academy will visit the exhibit as well. I encourage everyone to take the time to learn more about this fascinating aspect of our faith, as we look more deeply into the presence of Christ in the Eucharist and prepare ourselves for Holy Week. The inspiration of this exhibit is the research of Blessed Carlos Acutis (1991-2006). Bishop O’Connell has placed all of the schools in the diocese under his patronage. His story is in itself an interesting one.
Lent is progressing along pretty quickly, we are already on the Third Sunday, but it is not yet too late to take up a Lenten challenge and offer some sacrifice for the season. Stations of the Cross and various other programs continue for the remainder of the Lenten Season.
We have an opening for a Director of Buildings and Grounds. Please check further along in the bulletin for the job description.
Things are progressing well. Thank you to all who have already submitted their pledge for the Annual Catholic Appeal.
Have a blessed week,
Fr. Garry
