The month of August comes with a few important celebrations and events, even as things are relatively quiet with no programs or classes going on. Yet, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t planning for the future.
This first week of August we are mindful of St. John Vianney, the patron of the high school of course, but also the patron saint of diocesan priests. Although his feast is today (Sunday) and therefore not observed liturgically, we continue our prayers through his intercession for diocesan priests.
Next Sunday we will have a farewell blessing (already) for the members of our parish who are leaving for college this month either for the first time or entering their final year.
Next week we observe the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 14 vigil and August 15). A Holy Day of Obligation, Masses are at 7:00 pm on the 14 and at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on the 15.
The weekend of August 17-18 Father Joseph Mary Kavuma representing the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero, Uganda will be here for the annual Summer Mission appeal. More to come on that next week. Things are moving along well.
