Unfortunately the deadlines for printing the bulletins around the holidays make it so that I am actually writing this letter before Christmas. This means that I have no real clear updates and that I cannot really talk about the Christmas season and holiday, leaving this a more generic note. That being said, I hope you like the change in flooring in the church that we were (hopefully) able to complete over the Christmas season. This new carpet is easier to maintain than the previous carpet and also brings a new life and color scheme to the church.
I hope that everyone had a safe and blessed New Year, and that we all have our resolutions underway for a happy and successful 2025.
The students, faculty, and staff of SBS enjoyed a nice two-week break and are ready to return to school Monday,(January 6th).
This weekend we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. The details and chalk for the annual blessing of your homes can be found at the doors of the church. Please take a packet home and follow the simple directions. This is a very nice family prayer and a way to dedicate the year and our families to the Lord.
We are gearing up for Catholic Schools Week and the open house for SBS (beginning January 25th). If you would like to visit the school, please make plans as soon as possible. It can feel very early to think about school in September (especially if you are the parents of potential pre-K students) but those slots fill up pretty quickly, so the earlier the better.
Likewise, we will soon be launching the registrations for the summer programs -- the Religious Education Camp and the SBS Camp-Out. Pay attention to the up-coming bulletins for those announcements.
This is the last week of the Christmas Season, next Sunday, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, brings Christmas to a close. We have a long walk until Lent begins, as Ash Wednesday is on March 5th this year.
Prayers and best wishes for a good week and a blessed 2025. Fr. Garry
