Finally, it looks like the hope of Spring looms in front of us! Wasn’t it wonderful not to wear a winter coat this past week -- indeed even no coat at all?!
Our Lenten journey continues this week, but with a brief interruption. Yes, Monday is St. Patrick’s Day, when so many of us assume the privileges of Irish heritage and forgo our Lenten fasts. However, Wednesday is the universal solemnity of St. Joseph, the Husband of Mary and patron of the Church. This means that we all have the privilege on Wednesday to set aside Lent and to celebrate. We will have our traditional blessing of the St. Joseph’s Table following the 9:00 am Mass. I hope everyone gets to enjoy some of the St. Joseph pastries during the day.
We continue to pray the Stations on Wednesday and Friday evenings at 5:30 pm. Soup and Scripture continues on Wednesday. I am not sure what soup I am making this week -- I have a few favorites for sure.
The parish penance service for Lent is planned for March 23rd, beginning at 2:30 pm. Please make every effort to join us that afternoon for the sacrament.
Thank you to all who have already contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal. We are slowly making our way toward our goal. Please consider a contribution to assist the work of the diocese.
Order forms can be found further along in the bulletin for Holy Thursday and Easter flowers. Your contributions to the flower fund for Holy Week and Easter Sunday are very much appreciated. Thank you for all you do to enhance our liturgical life here.
Some of the grades in the school have openings for the coming year. It is not too late to investigate St. Benedict School for your school choice.
It looks like a busy week ahead -- I hope everyone has the time to relax, pray, and enter into the Lenten spirit with full vigor!
