As we enter this last week of July our thoughts turn quickly to the end of summer and the beginning of another school year. As I mentioned last week we are now in deep with the summer projects, so the sidewalk replacement is well underway and the new boilers will be installed in the school over the next few weeks. All of the projects are necessary improvements to our property and will enhance both the appearance and functionality of the space.
The Summer Religious Education Academy ended this past Friday. We are all grateful to Nancy Arkin, Diana Saverino, Loretta Assini, Ciro Saverino, and to the many teachers, adult and student volunteers, especially Aidan Zagel, for their work. Their efforts over these past three weeks and the prior months of planning and preparation led up to a very successful program. It is always a blessing to see the children learning more about faith and growing in their relationship with Jesus and his Church.
The Summer Camp Out continues for another four weeks. This is now the third summer for the camp and it has proven to be a great success and a definite enhancement to our school. More once this is over.
As we are hitting August it is almost time to say “adieu” to our college students who will be gradually making their exits over the next few weeks. Whether leaving for the first time, or heading off to graduate school, we will miss their presence with us, even as we welcome home those who have been away for the summer. We will extend a farewell blessing to the college students on the weekend of August 9-10 at all the Masses.
I hope everyone has something fun and or relaxing planned for the next few weeks!
