This weekend we bid adieu to Billy Attardi as he begins his seminary studies for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Ambler, PA. Billy has worked and served in our parish for the past two years as he discerned his vocation and we got him prepared to enter the formation program. It has been a great experience for the parish staff here to mentor him and get him ready for this next leg of his journey. During his time with us Billy has served as a sacristan, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, including taking Communion to the homebound, he has assisted at funerals, daily and weekend Masses (especially 5:00 pm on Sunday), and has accompanied me on various ministerial journeys. We will miss him and his work here, and we pray for his continued discernment and growth in his vocation.
We are now into the last two weeks of the summer break, yet for our college-bound parishioners, move-in days are here. Blessings to all of you -- and especially for those of you who are now empty nesters for the first time in a long time!
The summer projects are, thankfully, pretty much on schedule, so we are in good shape for the opening of the school year.
You will note in the bulletin a flyer announcing our new Brick Campaign. Personalized bricks will pave the way leading to the school entrance and to the Adoration Chapel. Families and friends have an opportunity to purchase a brick for yourself, your family, to honor a loved one or make a memoriam. The bricks will provide lasting tribute paving the way for generations to come. We are doing a slow roll-out now, and will ramp up and expand sales over the winter. The installation of the bricks is scheduled for the summer of 2026. The sale of the bricks will not only beautify the walkways, but will also help to off-set other improvements to the walkways. One benefit of a brick sale is that we can continue to sell bricks to interested families in years to come.
You may also notice that we are looking for a marketing director, someone who is able to handle social media, press releases, advertising and promotional materials, and other marketing skills. If you or someone you know might be interested, please send a C.V to Mrs. Pat Tobino in the HR office.
Things are moving along well here.
I hope everyone has a blessed and safe week ahead. Fr. Garry
