Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Benedict’s:
We are embarking on several initiatives which will, hopefully, help to stabilize our parish resources and serve as even better stewards for our parish community. As you saw the financial report of the parish in the bulletin over the past few weeks, you noticed that our income is not keeping pace with the expenses of maintaining and running our parish. To that end, we are engaged with Our Sunday Visitor to develop a plan to respond to this increasing financial situation.
We are all in the same boat, and we are well-aware that neither the federal or state government is collecting enough resources to maintain a budget, and spending is out of control. Our families as well experience some stress over finances as well. So, for us as a not-for-profit organization to experience the same kind of financial shortfall is not unusual.
Our ordinary expenses, many of which are fixed costs, have been pretty well kept in check. We have made adjustments and reduced some of the peripheral expenses. Yet, we need to provide a living wage and the necessary benefits for our parish staff as well. To that end, the increased giving campaign which we are launching, will help us all to find creative ways to assist us with this process.
Mr. John DeMuria, long-time parishioner and benefactor of St. Benedict Parish, is the coordinator of the campaign along with Patti Dickens, parish director of stewardship.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this initiative, and prayerfully discern how you can best respond to our request at this time and going into the future.
On the school side of things, we are off to a really good start this year. Several new initiatives in the school to enhance the learning experience of our students and assist with our teachers is going well. Most importantly, we have happy students!
Have a blessed week,
Fr. Garry
