Two weeks ago, John DeMuria spoke to the parish concerning our Stewardship Campaign, Faithfully United, and we are grateful for the positive response to date for this initiative. I am addressing this issue in the homily this weekend.
I also want to thank everyone for the ongoing support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the food pantry ministry. We have one of the most active food pantries in the area, and it is through your generous donations of food through the paper bag ministry that many families in our area are able to meet their weekly nutritional needs. The St. Vincent de Paul Society boasts sixty-one members who work in various stages of the ministry to ensure the welfare of those whose need is immediate or chronic.
This past Friday, Monsignor Joseph Rosie, V.E., conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 100 members of our parish community, and some of the recent graduates of our school. We continue our prayers for them and their families, especially now as they navigate the world of high school and begin to more seriously reflect on the values and tenets by which they live their lives. It is our prayer that now, sealed with the Holy Spirit, they will grow in faith and in their commitment to exploring that faith more deeply in their lives.
Congratulations to the winners of our annual 50-50 raffle, and thank you for your participation in the raffle. The proceeds provide some necessary resources for parish initiatives this year. As October is the Month dedicated to the Holy Rosary, Pope Leo has asked the church to pray the Rosary throughout this month for the cause of world peace. Wars are still raging in Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Palestine, Sudan, South Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Myanmar, and other areas where tension and hostility are ongoing concerns.
On the home front, our school continues to do well, and now, one month in, the school has developed a good rhythm, and we are happy with the progress.
It looks like a warm weekend and a beautiful week ahead. Blessings to all, Father Garry
