The last week of October looms ahead, and next Sunday we observe All Soul’s Day, the annual commemoration of all our departed loved ones and parishioners. The Memorial envelopes will be in front of the altar throughout the month of November. On Thursday, November 6, we are celebrating the Mass for all of those who were buried from our parish since last November. Invitations have been sent to their families, but everyone is invited and welcome to attend this Mass.
Saturday is All Saint’s Day. We are holding a Mass for All Saint’s Day at 9am, although it is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Saturday is also the Retreat Day for the eighth grade students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Fall of 2026. Please remember them in your prayers. Tuesday is the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo, the patron saint of seminarians. It is a good day to remember all of our seminarians in prayer, their names are listed in the bulletin. Our own seminarian, Billy Attardi, is enjoying his first year at St. Charles Seminary so far. Please remember him in a special way in your prayers.
The Holmdel Planning Board approved, with some minor modifications, the expansion plan for the school. This is great news and we are happy to embark on this adventure. The first phase, the construction of a designated music room and an additional classroom, will begin as soon as all of the bids are finalized and the Bishop signs off on the project. This should be accomplished in short order.
Overall, the school year is going well, and things are moving along at a smooth pace. Again, we are grateful for your generous response to the Faithfully United initiative. You can still send pledge cards to the parish office or drop them into the collection basket. Any questions should be directed to Patti Dickens.
I hope everyone has a good week and enjoys the Halloween festivities!
