This weekend we are lighting the parish Christmas Tree and it is certainly beginning to look like Christmas. I want to acknowledge and thank the recently established Father’s Club, formed under Rich Romero (Director of Buildings and Grounds) who volunteer to assist with various projects around the property. This not only eases some of the burden on the maintenance staff, but also helps us to not have to always hire an outside contractor to do some of the jobs. They have been busy getting us ready for Christmas.
The Knights of Columbus, too, are key in decorating the church and supporting the parish. ”Breakfast with Santa”, a project of the Knights of Columbus, is next Sunday after the 8 and 9:30 Masses. Why fight the shopping center Santa crowd when you can come here, have a very good and less expensive breakfast, and get to visit the jolly old elf himself?!
Thank you for your overwhelming response to the giving trees, your support of the Thanksgiving food drive, and the many other ways in which together we have tried to make the holiday seasons a bit better for the people of the Bay Shore. There are still opportunities to make a contribution; please make contact with Patti Dickens in the parish office to learn more.
This Sunday is the St. Mary (Colts Neck) Penance Service, beginning at 3pm, and ours is next Sunday December 14, at 3pm. Monday is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the patronal feast of the United States. It is a holy day of obligation and Masses will be celebrated at 9am and 5pm on Monday.
Everything is coming together for the festivities here. I hope everyone has a blessed and stress free week ahead!
