I hope everyone had a safe and blessed New Year. Please be assured of our prayers here for blessings in the year ahead. This past Christmas Season was a good and productive one for us here at St. Benedict, and hopefully the same is true for your families as well.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, which for many is the highlight of the Christmas season. For those of you who celebrate today (or more specifically January 6) as a special day with food and gifts, may the Epiphany Blessings be with you. We also wish our Orthodox Brethren a very blessed Christmas this week.
Many important events happen in January, so no rest for the weary. On January 23 the Catholic dioceses of New Jersey will observe a Pro-Life Mass and March at the Cathedral in Trenton. More details will be available in the bulletin soon. Catholic Schools Week begins on Saturday, January 24 with our Open House for Prospective Students and the opening Mass at 5:00 pm that evening. Educational and recreational activities will continue through the week, with an additional Open House on Friday, February 13. If your child will be three years old before September 30, it is not too early to start looking for pre-school opportunities, and we hope that St. Benedict School will be near the top of that list. Of course, the movement of students into Kindergarten and First Grade is common and so please look here as well. Likewise, we will welcome student transfers in upper grades, though space is limited. There will be much more information later on.
Prayers and blessings for the week and the new year ahead, Father Garry
