As I write this letter it is looking like most of you will not be reading it as you will be home watching the snow piling up on your driveways. Nonetheless, there are some important things to address.
As you know we are in Catholic Schools Week, and we are excited to celebrate the success of our school; to recognize the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff, and to support and encourage our students. Certainly we are grateful to all of the families who entrust their children to our care for their formation and education. It is an awesome responsibility, and one that we take very seriously here. Thank you to all those who make this mission possible for our parish family.
Next weekend we observe Marriage Sunday. Lori McCahill will speak at the Masses next weekend about the marriage initiatives and growth in marriage programs. This is a good time to encourage those who are married outside of the church to consider the process of convalidation in order to receive the sacramental graces of marriage and to be able to participate more fully in the life of the church. The process is generally simple and easy. Please make contact with Lori McCahill to schedule an appointment.
We are also preparing to launch the Annual Catholic Appeal. Those of you who are regular contributors to the appeal should be receiving the forms from the diocese at home within the next week. Please be as generous as you can to the appeal. As you will see, our parish goal has been reduced to $80,000, and the parish receives 50% of all contributions above the goal. We will have the official launch the weekend of February 15-16. I know it looks like a challenging weather week ahead -- so I hope everyone manages to stay safe and warm this week.
