Dear Fellow Parishioners of St. Benedict’s: Well that was a snowy weekend like we haven’t seen in a long time. Given my Lehigh Valley roots and college seminary days in Scranton, a good snow storm is always a relaxing and pleasant experience. I know not everyone feels that way.
We did realize last week as we were making the decision to alter the Mass schedule for the weekend that we do not have current email addresses for everyone, so we did our best to blast out the news, but I know not everyone got the message. Those of you who are social media savvy should follow us, and there is also the parish app which some have downloaded as well, but many rely on email or text messages. If you did not get a message from the parish regarding the schedule change, please inform the parish office as to the best way to communicate with you.
Our plans for Catholic Schools Week got interrupted with snow days this past week, yet we do nonetheless still want to acknowledge the administration, faculty, students, and staff of SBS. Over 90 families came through Open House last Saturday, so we are confident of a strong enrollment going forward. There is another Open House on Friday February 13, so make contact with the school office for more information.
The Feast of St. Blasé is celebrated on February 3, throat blessing will be offered after all Masses this weekend. We also are celebrating Marriage weekend next week, Lori McCahill will address the parish to kick-off the weekend.
Also, please note that on Wednesday February 11 we will observe the World Day of the Sick as we celebrate a Mass of Anointing of the Sick at 1pm. Anyone who is chronically ill, undergoing medical therapy, or suffering the effects of declining age and health, is invited to attend and to receive the Sacrament.
Hopefully the weather warms up a bit this week, but the arctic freeze certainly has been brutal. I hope everyone is safe and well.
