If it’s Sunday morning when you are reading this you are probably in a grumpy mood as you lost an hour of sleep last night. I know I am not a fan. Be careful this week as cardiovascular events, strokes, and various work place and car accidents spike the first week of DST.
Lent is certainly moving along at a quick pace, yet it is not too late to commit (or recommit) yourself to a sacrificial practice, spiritual edification, or works of charity this season. It is a very good and holy way to prepare for the Easter festivities.
To assist in the Lenten preparation, we are offering the Sacrament of Penance next Sunday beginning at 2:30pm. We will try to wrap the confessions by 4pm. Come as you are, and when you are able during the time frame. There is no service, and we will have some visiting priests available for confession that day. There are several community building/fund raising events planned over the next few months. The school PTA is sponsoring a Gift Auction on March 20. Look for the announcement about our new Golf Outing at Pebble Creek on May 18. Sponsorship opportunities are available for that as well.
Thank you to all who have already contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal. We are slowly nudging towards the goal. Soup and Scripture has been going well. I enjoy being able to taste different soup varieties that I might not be inclined to order but am curious about. Please join us after stations on Wednesday for some soup and reflection. Our speaker this week is Frederick DiBrienza of the theology department at Christian Brothers Academy.
The parish and staff teams had the occasion this past week to meet with the new Holmdel Chief of Police, Jeffery Ackerman. Security concerns around churches and schools are, sadly, of prime importance these days.
We have made good progress here, and yet we are aware that we have more to do. We are very grateful for the support and presence of the Holmdel Police Department.
The weather forecast is very promising for the week ahead!
