Service Opportunities: *Remember, This year you are submitting the hours on the X2Vol platform.
Why is there a Service Requirement? The purpose of required service is to give the young people the opportunity to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety. Fear of God.- These Gifts of the Holy Spirit help us "discern" what projects meet the call of Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to serve the "least of brothers & sisters."Â To not just do "good" during our 10 hours each year, but to do and discern "great" things.
- These Gifts of the Holy Spirit will help us not only be "good citizens" on earth, but they will help us become "Citizens of Heaven," the Kingdom of God.

10 Hours of Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy - Helping the "The Least, the Lost, and the Last"

What Qualifies? What does Not Qualify? A generous service to any of the following groups: the less fortunate, the needy, the dependent, the lonely, the poor - An act of Mercy (Corporal or Spiritual)
- Additionally, any service carried out, which is geared towards a life of service in the Church would also satisfy the required service hours.
- Assisting at Special Olympic or Special Needs programsÂ
- Just4Kixx (Soccer)
- Kings & Queens Cheer-ability TeamÂ
- Assisting at Food Pantries/Soup Kitchens
- Acts of Mercy towards the elderly (visiting, singing Christmas Carols, etc.)
- Assisting with CCD on Sunday Mornings, Teaching the Faith, VBS
- Participating in the "Works of Mercy" events sponsored by the St. Bens CYO
A selfless activity that may indeed be generous, but is not oriented towards the less fortunate, the needy, the dependent, the lonely, or the poor.
This Includes:- Athletic competitions
- Chores for family members
- Helping a family member at their office/job.
