St. Benedict Church held Listening Sessions as part of Pope Francis’ Synod of Bishops. In his words, “The goal of the Synod is to gather information from all the Parishes to bind up and heal wounds by acknowledging and sharing them and to awaken new hopes for the Church through understanding its Gospel mission as we learn from one another.”
Bishop O'Connell Pastoral Letter to the Diocese of Trenton
We want to send our sincere thanks for giving of your time, energy, and ideas to help make the SYNOD Parish process at St. Benedict part of a successful SYNOD Diocesan process overall. There were approximately 5,000 stories collected by the Diocese of Trenton.
None of us knew what to expect of this undertaking. We didn’t know what it would entail, how it would be received or if it would be successful enough for the Diocese to
have what it needed for the Bishop to attend the SYNOD of Bishops with a real representation of his Diocese. From the number of sessions and stories gathered, it looks as though we were part of a process that was truly led by the Holy Spirit.
With the Parishes having finished their story gathering and the Diocese having gathered all our note taking data, they are now in the process of compiling the information
for the Bishop to have it for his participation at the SYNOD of Bishops. Let’s continue our journey by keeping Bishop O’Connell and all the Bishops in our prayers as they prepare for and move forward on their Synodal Mission.
Thank you once again and we hope you all have a summer filled with Blessings.

As we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us,
make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You,
who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
