VIRTUAL MASSES AT ST. BENEDICT
Live stream schedule:

Confessions are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings following the 9:00am Mass in the plaza in front of the church at the tent. Please wear a mask and be careful to keep a safe distance from other parishioners and the priest. In case of rain, there will be no Confession that day.
We are also offered the following option, as explained in the  Catechism of the Catholic Church (1451-1453):

1. Examination of Conscience
2. Enumerate your sins as you would for an ordinary confession.
3. Express perfect contrition and recite the Act of Contrition.
4. Commit to receiving the Sacrament as soon as you are able.
5. Offer a penance or a sacrifice in reparation for your sins.

Pope Francis recently stated:  “And immediately you will return to the grace of God.”

You can add your prayer intentions to the petition book in the Narthex, light devotional candles inside of the St. Benedict Church daily chapel during parish office hours, or email your special prayer intentions to our email address at  prayerwall@stbenedictnj.org and we will add them to the petition book.

St. Benedict Church accepts food donations for local families in need during this crisis.

Wish list items include:

• Peanut Butter
• Canned Goods
• Rice 
• Pasta 
• Cereals
• Any items that do not require refrigeration.

Note:
The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays from 10am - 1pm.

Reinstating the General Obligation to Attend Mass

At this time, due to the observance of public safety protocols and the increase in the availability of vaccines, we have begun a return to some sense of normalcy in various sectors of our society.

Therefore, we the Catholic Bishops of New Jersey, are lifting the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation beginning on Saturday, June 5, 2021, and Sunday, June 6, 2021,
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. We welcome the Christian faithful to return to the regular participation in the Sunday Eucharist, the source and summit of our Catholic
faith (cf. Code of Canon Law canon 1247 and Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 2180).

This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were recently exposed to the coronavirus or another serious or contagious illness; those who are
confined to their home, a hospital, or nursing facility; or those with serious underlying health conditions. One should consult the local pastor if questions arise about the obligation to attend Mass (canon 87).

Finally, safety protocols (such as wearing masks, social distancing, etc.) and liturgical directives
in each New Jersey Diocese remains in place until modified or revoked by the respective
Diocesan Bishop.

Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love.

Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth.

Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace.

Jesus Christ, heal us.
